End of the day, where would you really rather be?
At 139 metres high, Gloria Hotel’s Sky Lounge on the 40th floor is the perfect spot.
It’s been a long day in the office. Back-to-back meetings held with the most important one almost missed by a minute’s hairline. Around 5pm, you were just plain wishing it was over – but it wouldn’t be; not until an hour more.
Yes, mother never told you there’d be days like this. Neither did she tell you there’s a place to relax after having days like this: Sky Lounge on Gloria Hotel’s 40th floor, a serene refuge for people wanting no more than a couch to sit back on and enjoy therapeutic moments punctuated by jaw-dropping views of the city below, the Arabian Gulf far beyond and the iconic Palm Jumeirah, and Burj Al Arab beckoning on the foreground.
The Sky Lounge, perfect for an end-of-the-day-let’s-unwind-on-top-of-Dubai treats, is about 139 metres high with a next-level floor called Executive Lounge for the hotel’s executive floor guests.
It has a floor-to-ceiling glass wall that can sometimes give you that surreal thought about whether a fish in an aquarium feel the same looking on the world outside; that calming sensation you get staring inside out and noticing how busy it is back there while you remain slumped on a sofa, enjoying your evening snacks and beverages.
The place has wi-fi which makes it very much conducive to check your private emails and Facebook following a day’s work.
Gloria Hotel is a four-star property on Sheikh Zayed Road near a Metro Station that can take you to Dubai’s giant shopping centres –Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates – as well as golf clubs.
The 1010-suite hotel is near the Media City free zone and is easy to reach from Dubai International Airport or from the highway linking the city to Abu Dhabi.
