The Cove Rotana Resort had the pleasure to host the first Syrian Salon competition on Saturday 26th, August. It is been a day full of excitement, action and mouthwatering delicacies.
The competition was separated into four classes including a live cooking challenge in which the 106 participants, who came from all over the UAE, prepared the most delicious and tasty dishes selected from the Syrian cuisine.
Designed not only to introduce Syrian's culinary traditions and develop the Chefs to compete with international standard but also for ambitious culinarians, teams and individuals who wish to improve their cooking skills and achieve higher scores while participating in culinary competitions.
The excitement even increased when the judges gathered for the final scoring. Before announcing the winners of the day Majed Al Sabagh, Vice President of Emirates Culinary Guild, thanked sponsors and The Cove Rotana Resort for hosting the event.
The award ceremony was an accomplishment for the team of The Cove Rotana Resort as they won one bronze, six silver and four gold medals in the three categories Traditional and Modern Display, Syrian Traditional Mezzeh- Practical and Three Plates of Dessert- Display. Winning in the same three categories the team of Fujairah Rotana Resort and Spa received two bronze and two gold medals. Chef Mohamed Ahmed, The Cove Rotana Resort, was announced winner of the first runner up for Best Syrian Cuisiner while Chef Alaa Salami, Fujairah Rotana Resort and Spa, won the second runner up in this category.
